‘Silence of Love’ Thai Life Insurance

This advert was uploaded in 2011. It features a girl who wants a father that’s better than the one she currently has, just because her father is deaf. She takes his love and care for granted and because she cannot understand sign language she does not know all the loving and caring things her father is actually trying to tell her. Because of her fathers disability she gets bullied at school a lot. This leads to her having fights, making bad life decisions and her attempted suicide (cutting herself). As she was trying to commit suicide, her father had prepared a letter to her, explaining what she meant to him and how much he tries to be a good father for her, as well as a cake he had bought for her that day for her birthday. Which was on the day she attempted suicide. The father had then rushed her to the hospital in his arms, since he was unable to call an ambulance due to not being able to speak. He tried to explain what happened to the doctors and nurses in sign, but they couldn’t understand nor did they have anyone to translate; the father offered his blood, which pretty much ended his life. He had requested they do a blood transfusion so that his daughter could live, and so that he took her place in death because she was way too young to be ready for death.

This advert was produced to give dramatic appeal; it was to advertise the use of life insurance and how to get life insurance. It uses a powerful story =line in order to pull at the watchers heartstrings and make them think about why they need life insurance.
